Complete driver package and then the scanner utility. I installed everything the same way I always do, and I have never had issues in the past. Will have to see how often this reoccurs. A scanner driver supporting this software is not installed. Technically, this is not a fix but rather a workaround. After that it found the printer with no problem. Solution: System Preferences>Printers & Scanners>selected the "Canon MF642C/643C." in the left hand pane, clicked the "-", then clicked the "+" and selected the Canon driver for it. If your computer has multiple USB ports, connect the scanner to another port. If the scanner is connected via USB hub, connect the scanner to the computer directly without hub. But still, my Mac could not find the printer. Reinstalling the scanner driver from the CD-ROM (Windows) See 1. Still, I encountered this issue a week later and verified that I could see the printer's IP address on the LAN. ![]() So it WILL print with the firewall up & running. I've had DSL modems that wouldn't let me do FTP transfers w/o taking my firewall down!!!! Threw that one in the trash!!!!)įor what it's worth, I did the initial configuration of my MF644Cdw printer with a Mac and was able to print with it, no problemo, all while my firewall was running. I am not sure why I can no longer scan to my computer wirelessly. ![]() I repeat, that would be brain-dead of them to do so. When I click Scan (on the printer LCD) > Computer, I get 'connect to computer.' I've tired uninstalling and reinstalling the MF Scan Utility and the print driver but it did not resolve the problem. If you have to turn off ANY computer's firewall to get it to see the printer, the software developers for the device are brain-dead for asking customers to turn off one of the MOST important security features available.
